CTV announced today that Shania Twain is the latest mentor on the inaugural season of The Launch, CTV’s new original music series.
Record executive Scott Borchetta, who was a previous American Idol advisor, is producing the six-part series with Bell Media and will appear as a judge alongside Black Eyed Peas hitmaker Fergie and OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder on the talent discovery format that will be globally syndicated.
“Shania is one of the world’s most sensational artists – a brilliant songwriter, a powerful vocalist, and a show-stopping live performer who has commanded audiences at sold-out concert arenas around the planet,” said Randy Lennox, President, Bell Media earlier today. “We are honoured to welcome this stellar, category-defying, homegrown talent on board The Launch.”
Recognized as the top-selling country artist of all-time, the five-time Grammy Award-winner has sold 90 million albums worldwide, fuelled by a jukebox of hits that have included “You’re Still the One”, “From This Moment On”, and “Man! I Feel Like A Woman!”
Twain’s fifth full-length album Now, led by the declaratory first single “Life’s About to Get Good”, is set for release on September 29.
The series was co-developed by and is produced in association with Borchetta of Big Machine Label Group, Paul Franklin of Eureka, and Bell Media, in partnership with John Brunton and Lindsay Cox of Insight Productions.
The Launch is executive produced by Borchetta, Lennox and Brunton; Cox and Paul Franklin are Showrunners and Executive Producers. Bell Media's executive team includes Robin Johnston and Corrie Coe. Additional credits include CTV Specialty Programming VP Pat DiVittorio , and Content and Programming President Mike Cosentino.
